Uni Bottle aims for a sustainable lifestyle

Sustainable Living 1

What started the project?

Sustainable Living 1

We, a group of volunteers from the Shinseki Seminar at Doshisha University, wanted to develop a "personal bottle" that university students would want to carry as a first step towards building a sustainable society, so we launched a co-creation project with Peacock Thermos.

What I learned through the project

Sustainable Living 2

In the seminar, we learn how to think by formulating hypotheses and building a logical path to a conclusion, but this time I was involved in the process of formulating hypotheses, verifying them, and turning them into real "things." This allowed me to experience setbacks and compromises, and I believe it has broadened my perspective.

What changed through the project

Sustainable Living 3

Through this project, I began to explore the thoughts that went into the "things" around me. Until now, I had focused on "cost-effectiveness" and "appearance," but by actually being involved in the development, the thoughts that went into a product have become one of the indicators for choosing a product.

I think having a uni bottle will help me live a life that brings a little happiness.
If you buy a plastic bottle every day, you will end up spending around 3,000 to 6,000 yen a month. By choosing to use your own bottle, you can use the money you would have spent on a plastic bottle for something else (such as a small reward for yourself), which will also be the first step towards protecting the environment.

I realized once again that we can tackle environmental issues by making small changes to our everyday lives.

There are also water dispensers installed on Doshisha University campuses. We hope that the development of the UniBottle will lead to the spread of personal water bottles among more university students, and that it will spark an interest in the "SDGs that are close to home."
